As an avid hiker and backpacker I’ve been thinking about a quick and easy way to renovate or replace old shelters in the wilderness.  Not much is required.  They only need to be a lean-to with a couple of walls. This quick sketch of an idea for a backcountry hut used by hunters or hikers is the result.  With SIPs (Structural Insulated Panels) the shelter could be pre-manufactured and dropped in by air to the site. Cover it with standing seam metal roofing.  Set the assembly on a few large rocks at the corners, add a table and bench and the project is done.
